titleOfInvention New dihydroxy compound and polyester using the same
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester, excellent in mechanical characteristics and molding processability and suitable as fibers, films and other molded products by using a new dihydroxy compound having a specific structure. n CONSTITUTION: A dihydroxy compound expressed by formula II (R 1 and R 2 are the same or different 2-6C alkylene group) is obtained by a method for reacting a 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid halide with a compound expressed by formula I (X is ≤6C alkyl), etc., in the presence of a Lewis acid, converting the resultant compound into an aromatic dihydroxy compound and reacting the produced aromatic dihydroxy compound with a cycloaliphatic ether, etc. A polyester is prepared by using the resultant dihydroxy compound as a main diol component and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (e.g. terephthalic acid) as a main acid component according to a polymerization method such as a melt, a solution polymerization methods. The obtained polyester has ≥0.2dl/g intrinsic viscosity. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
