titleOfInvention | Chlorofluoromethyl-thiadiazolyloxyacetamide, its preparation and herbicide containing it |
abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a novel chorofluoromethyl-thiadiazolyloxyacetamide useful as a herbicide exhibiting selective strong herbicidal activity against weeds. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [R is 2-4C straight alkyl; R 1 and R 2 are each H, cyano, nitro, alkyl, etc.], e.g. N-isopropyl-2-(5- chlorofluoromethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-oxy)-4-fluorophenylacetamide. The compound is obtained by reacting chlorofluoroacetic acid with methyl dithiocarbazate in the presence of phosphoryl chloride to give a novel compound of formula II, reacting the product with an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide or the like to give a novel compound of formula III (n is 1 or 2) and reacting the product with a hydroxyacetamide of formula IV preferably in the presence of a diluent (e.g. hexane) and an acid acceptor (e.g. NaOH). The reaction temperature is preferably -20-80°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
