abstract PURPOSE: To provide a novel 3-aryl-pyrrolidine-2,4-dione derivative and its enantiomer in the pure form useful as insecticides, acaricides and herbicides. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [A is alkyl, alkenyl, etc.: B and E are each H, alkyl, etc.; K is alkyl, halogen, etc.; Y is H, alkyl, halogen, etc.; Z is alkyl, halogen, etc.; n is 0-3; R is formula II (L is O or S; R 1 and R 2 are each alkyl, alkoxy, etc.), etc.], e.g. 4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy- methanethiophosphoryl)-3-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-1,5-trimethylene-3-pyrrolin-2-one.
