titleOfInvention Continuous production of diaryl carbonate
abstract PURPOSE: To continuously produce the subject diaryl carbonate with high selectivity in a high yield. n CONSTITUTION: In production of a diaryl carbonate from a dialkyl carbonate (a) and an aromatic hydroxy compound (b), the first process: To the first continuous multi-stage distillation column containing a catalyst, (a) and (b) are continuously fed and low-boiling components produced by the reaction are continuously discharged from the distillation column in a gaseous state. High-boiling components containing alkylaryl carbonates produced by the reaction are continuously taken out from the lower part of the column in a liquid state at the same time. The second process: To the second continuous multi-stage distillation column containing a catalyst, a liquid-state material taken out from the lower part of the column in the first process is continuously fed and (a)-containing low-boiling components produced by the reaction are continuously discharged from the distillation column in a gaseous state. The discharged low-boiling components are fed to the first continuous multi-stage distillation column and high-boiling components containing a diaryl carbonate produced by the reaction are continuously taken out from the lower part of the column in a liquid state. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
