abstract | PURPOSE: To produce the title compd. with a general-purpose reactor made of an ordinary corrosion resistant material in mild conditions by previously adding sodium carbonate to sodium iodate, continuously adding sodium hydroxide and specifying pH at the time of oxidizing the sodium iodate with chlorine. n CONSTITUTION: One or more among sodium hydrogencarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium dihydrogenphosphate and disodium hydrogenphosphate are previously added to sodium iodate, sodium hydroxide is continuously added and pH is adjusted to 7-10 at the time of oxidizing the sodium iodate with chlorine. For example, 15.0g sodium iodate is suspended in 112.5g water and 8.4g sodium hydrogencarbonate is added. After heating to 90°C, 45.7g aq. sodium hydroxide soln. having 35wt.% concn. is added during 30min and chlorine is introduced during this addition while keeping pH 8.0.
