titleOfInvention | Reduction of nitrogen oxide |
abstract | PURPOSE: To fix NOx in an aqueous solution by supplying gas, containing NOx from the gas diffusion layer side of a cathode and hydrogen from the gas diffusion layer side of an anode, from a gas diffusion electrode where a reaction layer is junctioned to a gas diffusion layer, and allowing direct reduction of NOx by electrode reaction. n CONSTITUTION: A hydrophilic part of hydrophilic carbon particles or catalytic particles carrying a catalyst, and a hydrophobic part of hydrophobic carbon particles and a fluororesin are present in a mixed state. In addition, a reaction layer where at least part of the hydrophilic part is covered with an electrolyte and a gas diffusion layer having hydrophilic pores consisting of hydrophobic carbon particles and the fluororesin, are junctioned to form a gas diffusion electrode as a cathode. Gas containing NOx is supplied from the gas diffusion layer side of the gas diffusion electrode to perform electrolysis. Further, hydrogen is supplied from the gas diffusion layer side using a gas diffusion electrode of the same structure as an anode to constitute a fuel cell for electrolysis. Consequently, said gas is electrolytically reduced by the three-phase zone of the reaction layer to be fixed in an aqueous solution. In addition, electric power is recycled and thus power saving an safety are ensured by electrolysis using the constitute fuel cell. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
