abstract | PURPOSE: To make separation of catalyst easy and to reduce a process cost by neutralizing the reaction product with an aq. alkali metal phosphate, dehydrating, and filtering so as to easily separate a metal halide catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction product in the production of N-cyanoethylaniline, N-substd.-N-hydroxy alkylaniline, etc., is neutralized with an aq. alkali metal phosphate such as trialkali metal phosphate, dialkali salt hydrogen phosphate, etc. Then, after neutralization, water in the reaction product is removed by distillation to obtain a neutral salt having large grain size and high filtering property.
