abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an optical resolution product in high purity and yield under mild condition by treating a specific racemic compound with a microbial cell, etc., of genus Bacillus. n CONSTITUTION: Racemic 4-acyloxy-4-ethyl-6,6-(ethylenedioxy)-7,8-dihydro-1H- pyrano[3,4-f]indolidine-3,10(4H)-dione (A) of formula I (R is alkyl) is added in an amount of 0.1-1wt.% to a phosphate buffer solution, etc., to obtain a reaction liquid (B). The liquid B is added with 0.1-2 pts.wt. (based on 1 pt.wt. of the component A) of cultured cell body (C) of Bacillus liqueniformis NR1C-1007 and reacted at 20-50°C and pH 4-9 for 24-72hr. The obtained reaction product (D) is filtered, concentrated and purified to obtain (S)-4- ethyl-6,6-(ethylene-dioxy)-7,8-dihydro-4-hydroxy-1H-pyrano[3,4-f]indolidine-3,10(4H)- dione of formula II by optical resolution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
