titleOfInvention | Production of liquid epihalohydrin polymer having hydroxyl group on all terminals |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer useful as a polymer modifier and liquid rubber by polymerizing an epihalohydrin in the presence of a polyhydric alcohol using antimony pentachloride as a polymerization catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer is produced by adding ≥2-valent polyhydric alcohol (e.g. ethylene glycol and glycerol) to an epihalohydrin (e.g. epichlorohydrin and epibromohydrin) and dropping antimony pentachloride as a polymerization catalyst to the mixture in a non-aqueous atmosphere to effect the polymerization of the monomer. The amount of the antimony pentachloride is preferably 0.02-0.2 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the epihalohydrin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
