titleOfInvention | Production of glycerin monoallyl ether |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title high-quality compound from allyl glycidyl ether and water using an acid catalyst easy to recover and usable at appropriate times consisting of a MR-type strongly acidic cation exchange resin or polyperfluoroalkylsulfonic acid resin. n CONSTITUTION: The objective glycerin monoallyl ether can be obtained by reaction between allyl glycidyl ether and water using, as catalyst, a MR-type strongly acidic cation exchange resin [e.g. Amberlite(R) 15 (Rohm & Haas Co.) etc.] or polyperfluoroalkylsulfonic acid resin [e.g. Nafion(R) 390 (Du Pont Co.) etc.]. This catalyst can be easily recovered through e.g. filtration from a reaction liquor and reused for the next reaction without the need for reprocessing, also enabling continuous reaction. The present production method is excellent from an industrial point of view with no problems of reactor corrosion. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
