titleOfInvention Agent for suppressing production of lipid peroxide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an agent for suppressing production of lipid peroxide and effective for the treatment of circulatory diseases by using phenolic compounds existing in the flower cluster of a crude drug KEIGAI (flower of Schizonepeta tenuifolia) as an active component. n CONSTITUTION: The objective agent contains a compound selected from the compounds of formula I (R 1 is H, glucose or glucuronic acid; R 2 is H, OH, O-glucose or O-glucuronic acid), formula II (A is rutinose), formula III (R 3 is H or methyl), formula IV and formula V. The above compounds can be produced by extracting the flower of KEIGAI with water and/or an alcohol, removing the solvent from the extract, dissolving the residue in water and/or an alcohol, extracting with an organic solvent such as petroleum ether or chloroform, removing a fat-soluble component transferred to the organic solvent, subjecting the residue to column chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, etc., several times using water, ethanol, acetic acid, n-hexane, etc., as elution solvents and fractionating the product by thin-layer chromatography while confirming the objective component. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
