titleOfInvention Production of resin particle
abstract PURPOSE: To produce industrially resin particles having a sharp particle diameter distribution and an arbitrary particle diameter by breaking the stable state of an aqueous microdispersion of an ionic resin containing a water-soluble polyelectrolyte. n CONSTITUTION: A process for producing particles comprising agglomerates of a microdispersion by breaking the stable state of an aqueous microdispersion of an ionic resin, wherein a water-soluble polyelectrolyte is added to the aqueous microdispersion. The ionic resin is desirably one having carboxyl groups or alkali metal sulfonate groups. According to this production process, an electrolyte is added to the aqueous medium in which the ionic resin is microdispersed in the presence of the polyelectrolyte. Therefore, this process, unlike conventional salting out, can provide spherical microparticles composed of suitably agglomerated microdispersion and having a sharp particle diameter distribution without forming nonuniform agglomerates. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
