titleOfInvention Bispiperidine derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [X is 1-10C alkylene, of formula II, etc.; R 1 is of formula III (Ar is phenyl; R 2 is H or lower alkyl), cinnamyl, methyl, etc.; for the binding sites for X to the two piperidine rings, if one is at 2-site, the other being at 2'-site; if one is at 3-site, the other being at 3'-site; and if one is at 4-site, the other being at 4'-site] or its salt. n EXAMPLE: 1,3-Di-(1-benzyl-4-piperidyl)propane. n USE: Giving acetylcholinesterase-inhibitory activity, thus being useful as a therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer-type senile dementia. n PREPARATION: A compound of formula IV is hydrogenated using platinum oxide into a compound of formula V. This compound is then put to heating reflux in the presence of an alklating agent and base to obtain the objective compound of the formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
