abstract PURPOSE: To allow a crystal to be isolated in a short time and with ease by using a fluoran compound useful as a coloring compound and a specific organic solvent. n CONSTITUTION: A fluoran compound represented by the formula is isolated by recrystallization from an organic solvent containing 50wt.% or more, preferably 80wt.% or more, methanol, ethanol or acetonitrile.
