PURPOSE: To provide a skin external medicine containing an ester of quinic acid with caffeic acid, having an excellent effect to prevent skin itch, senile pruritus, etc., not causing an aging browning, free from irritation, etc., and having good stability and safety. n CONSTITUTION: A skin external medicine having an excellent skin itch- preventing activity and having good stability and safety contains one kind or more of quinic acid-caffeic acid esters of formula I (R 1 , R 2 , R 3 are H, group of formula II) as essential components in an amount of preferably 0.001-20wt.%, further preferably 0.01-10wt.%, based on the whole amount of the medicine. The esters are substances contained in Artemisia princeps Pamp. and coffee beans. Synthetic substances and extracts from the natural plants can be employed as the esters, but the purified products of the extracts are preferable because of being easily available. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
