titleOfInvention Atheroma remover
abstract PURPOSE: To perform light therapy without use of a laser light irradiation system by efficient irradiation of atheroma with light by providing outside of a scattering section a balloon containing a phosphor solution which radiates fluorescence of a specified wavelength range by receiving a light energy. n CONSTITUTION: An atheroma remover 10 is provided with a catheter 11, a large inside diameter fiber 12, a scattering body 13 which radiates light transmitted through the fiber 12 from an outer circumferential surface and a balloon 15 which expands by introducing a phosphor solution 14, as main components. When light is incident onto the fiber 12, the light is radiated from the outer circumferential surface of the scattering body 13 to be received by phosphor within the balloon 15 and fluorescence of a specified wavelength range is irradiated from the outer circumference of the balloon 15. When a material for emitting the fluorescence with the specified wavelength range by exciting a hematoporphyrin derivative is used, light therapy can be performed without use of laser light. In addition, since the light energy is irradiated on the atheroma in a state that the balloon 15 is expanded and brought into contact with the atheroma, the whole affected part including the atheroma can be irradiated together with the light. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
