titleOfInvention Production of optically active 3-phenyl-1,3-propanediol
abstract PURPOSE: To economically obtain in optically high purity the title compound as an intermediate for synthesizing medicines, by allowing microorganisms to act on an enantiomer mixture of phenyl propanediol followed by collecting an optically active phenyl propanediol left. n CONSTITUTION: Microorganisms or a product from their treatment is allowed to act on an enantiomer mixture of 3-phenyl-1,3-propanediol followed by collecting the objective compound left. The microorganisms is e.g. Aspergillus niger IFO 4414 having ability to leave (R)-3-phenyl-1,3-propanediol. The reaction by the microorganisms is pref. made at 20-40°C and a pH of 5-9 for 1-120hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
