titleOfInvention Tetrahydrophthalic imide derivative and its production
abstract PURPOSE: To readily obtain a compound useful as a herbicide capable of exhibiting high selectivity at a low dose by chlorinating a tetrahydrophthalic imide using a readily available chlorinating agent. n CONSTITUTION: N-(2'-Fluoro-5'-cyclopentyloxyphenyl)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-phthalic imide expressed by formula I is allowed to react with a chlorinating agent in a solvent such as chloroform, preferably in the presence of a base (e.g. dicyclohexylamine) at ambient temperature to 120°C to provide the objective product expressed by formula II. A substance selected from chlorine gas, sulfuryl chloride, N-chlorosuccinic imide and copper (II) chloride is used as the chlorinating agent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
