abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I or II (Q is non-metallic atom group necessary to complete a color-developing system; R 1 is electron-attracting group; R 2 is H, OH, acylamino, sulfonamide, ureido, urethane or sulfamoylamino; R 3 to R 5 are H or substituent; -X- is -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO 2 -, halogen, etc.). n EXAMPLE: The compound of formula III. n USE: A cyan dye for forming a color image by subtractive color process. It can be used as a filter dye for solid-state image-pickup tube or color liquid crystal TV screen or as a green or blue filter by mixing yellow or magenta dye. It has excellent spectral absorption characteristics as well as heat-resistance and moisture resistance. n PREPARATION: The objective compound can be produced by the oxidative coupling of (A) a coupler of formula IV or V (X' is H or eliminable group), (B) a phenylenediamine developing agent of formula VI (R 11 and R 12 are H, alkyl, etc.; R 13 is halogen, alkyl, etc.; r is 0-4) and (C) an aminophenol developing agent of formula VII in the presence of an oxidizing agent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
