titleOfInvention Metal halide lamp
abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the elevation of lamp voltage and the degradation of luminous flux due to the deformation of electrodes on both ends of a luminous tube, by constructing tips of the electrodes exposed to arc discharge with tungsten containing specified amount of rare-earth metal oxides. n CONSTITUTION: On both ends of a luminous tube 1 made of quartz, a pair of electrodes 2a, 2b are sealed respectively, and in the tube 1 rare gas, mercury and iodides of dysprosium, thallium and cesium are sealed, and on outer walls of both ends of the luminous tube 1, heat insulating films 3, 3 are coated respectively. And tips of electrodes 2a, 2b exposed to arc discharge are constructed with tungsten containing 0.5W5wt.% of at least one kind of rare-earth metal oxides. As for the rare-earth metal oxides cerium oxide is used, and as for the rare-earth metal iodides at least one of scandium iodide, dysprosium iodide and neodymium iodide are sealed in. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
