abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber having excellent card-passing property at a high velocity by applying a treating agent containing silicon oxide fine particles and/or a silicone compound having a specific degree of polymerization comprising a thermoplastic having a specific melting point, and giving crimp of a specific crimping number. n CONSTITUTION: A colloidal solution containing 5-30wt.% silicon oxide fine particles (e.g. colloidal silica) and/or a condensate of silicon compound expressed by the formula (R is 1-10C alkyl or alkenyl) having 10-100 degree of polymerization dispersing in water, etc., is applied on the surface of a thermo-adhesive fiber containing a thermoplastic polymer having 50-200°C melting point, in which at least 50wt.% is polyolefinic polymer (e.g. a copolymer of polyethylene and methacrylic acid). 0.05-5wt.% of said colloidal solution (as an active ingredient) based on the weight of said fiber is adhered on the fibrous surface, then crimped to generate crimping of 15-24peaks/25mm crimping number to afford the objective thermo-adhesive fiber having excellent card-passing property at a high velocity. Nonwoven cloth made from said fiber is soft and keeps a stabilized quality without reduction of adhering strength. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
