titleOfInvention | Production of dinitroazobenzene |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful as a precursor of p- phenylenediamine in high yield by reacting readily handleable nitrogen dioxide with azobenzene in the presence of a strong acid, easily precipitating and separating a reaction product from the reaction solution. n CONSTITUTION: 1mol azobenzene is reacted with preferably 1-50 nitrogen dioxide solution in a solvent such as acetonitrile preferably at-10-100°C, especially 0-30°C in the presence of a strong acid in a molar ratio of strong acid/azobenzene of ≥5/100, a precipitated reaction product is readily separated to give the objective compound useful as a precursor of p-phenylenediamine suitable as a monomer raw material for polyamide and polyimide. Trifluoroacetic acid, methanesulfonic acid or trifluoroacetic anhydride are used as the strong acid and can be used as a reaction solvent of azobenzene and nitrogen dioxide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
