titleOfInvention Production of vinylated alkyd resin and coating composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title resin which can give a coating composition excellent in adhesion to a substrate, water resistance, corrosion resistance and driability by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer containing a specified amount of γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane in the presence of a specified alkyd resin. n CONSTITUTION: 80-20 pts.wt. polymerizable monomer (e.g. styrene/methyl methacrylate mixture) containing 0.5-15wt.% γ- methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane of the formula is polymerized in the presence of 20-80 pts.wt. alkyd resin (e.g. a resin prepared from dehydrated castor oil, glycerol, phthalic anhydride and benzoic acid) containing a (semi)-drying oil or fatty acids thereof in such an amount as to give an oil length of 30-60%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
