abstract PURPOSE: To manufacture ferromagnetic metal particles for magnetic recording medium having excellent oxidation resistance by treating surfaces of fine particles of the ferromagnetic metal material with 2, 3-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride. n CONSTITUTION: The fine particles (≥ about 25m 2 /g specific surface area) of the ferromagnetic metal material (Co, Ni, etc.,) or the ferromagnetic alloy material (Fe-Co, Fe-Ni, etc.,) are dipped into the treating solution of 2, 3-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride dissolved in an organic solvent and 2, 3-naphthalene carboxylic acid or this anhydride is coated at about 0.03-30wt. parts to 100wt. parts of the ferromagnetic metal particles. By this method, the ferromagnetic metal particles having excellent oxidation resistance, is obtd. and by kneading this with a resin bonding agent and the organic solvent, etc., and coating on a non-magnetic supporting body, the magnetic recording medium having high quality can be manufactured. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
