abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula l [R 1 and R 2 are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl, naphthyl, heterocy clic group, cycloalkylalkyl, phenylalkyl, phenylalkenyl, thiocarbamoyl, of formula II (R 5 and R 6 are each H, heteroatom, or alkyl), etc., or are combined to farm 3-6C cycloalkyl, 5-6C cycloalkenyl, tetrahydrofuryl, etc.], its salt. n EXAMPLE: α-(2-thienyl)-α-amino-thioacetamide. n USE: An intermediate for producing N-acyl-α-amino-thioacetamide based agricultural/horticultural germicides. n PREPARATION: A reaction is made between (A) an α-aminoacetonitrile derivative of formula III and (B) hydrogen sulfide in the presence of a carbonyl compound of formula IV (R 3 and R 4 are each H, alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl, naphthyl, etc.) into a novel imidazolidine-4-thione derivative of formula V, which is then put to solvolysis in the presence of an acid catalyst, thus obtaining the objective compound of the formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
