abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for oral cavity having highly deodorizing effects on foul breath and unpleasant garlic smell, containing powder of beans of the genus Phaseolus or Vigna or an extract thereof with water or an organic solvent. n CONSTITUTION: A composition for oral cavity containing powder of beans of the genus Phaseolus (e.g. snap bean, Kintoki bean or Tora bean (both beans used in Japanese cookings) and/or Vigna (e.g. Virgna angularis, Vigna radiata or Vigna sinensis Savi), powder of roasted powder thereof or an extract thereof with water or an organic solvent. The amount of the power or the extract thereof blended is 0.5-50wt.% in the case wherein a raw material is added as it is and 0.1-30wt.% in the case wherein an extract of raw material is added. The composition is properly mixed with an excipient, a binder, a disintegrator, a lubricant and a sweetener and prepared by a conventional procedure to give the objective substance. The substance is applicable as troche, tablet, pill, candy, drink agent, chewing gum, jelly, mouthwash, paste for oral cavity, dentifrice, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
