abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an insect pest expellent containing a compound selected from n-pentane, isopentane and cyclopentane and having narcotic effect on an insect pest, having excellent insect pest exterminating effect and low polluting property and high safety. n CONSTITUTION: One or more kind of compounds selected from n-pentane, isopentane and cyclopentane and having narcotic effect on insect pest are blended as essential ingredients, preferably at amounts of 20vol./vol.% based on total amount of expellent for insect pest to provide the insect pest expellent capable of exhibiting knock down effect and death effect by narcotic action and low-temperature narcotic action of the above-mentioned compound and simultaneously exhibiting the above-mentioned effects because of highly volatile property and fast evaporation after using. Furthermore, when insect pest expellent exterminating ingredient is added at an amount of preferably 0.01-1.0w/v% in addition to the above-mentioned compound, high exterminating effect against tough insect pest is obtained and reduction of cost and improvement of safety are carried out, because an amount of insect pest exterminating ingredient used can be reduced. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
