titleOfInvention Magnetic fluid whose discoloration has been prevented
abstract PURPOSE: To effectively prevent a black color from being changed to a brown color by a method wherein thioglycolic acid, gluconic acid or their water-soluble salt is added to a water-based magnetic fluid which uses magnetite fine particles as dispersoids. n CONSTITUTION: When a magnetic fluid of a water solvent is prepared by using magnetite prepared in an ordinary reactor equipped with a stirrer, 5g of dodecyl benzene sodium sulfonate, 5g of sodium oleate, 5g of sodium naphthenate and 5g of sodium thioglycolate are added to 100 of magnetite, their pH is adjusted and a water-based magnetic fluid is obtained. The magnetic fluid is left at a standstill for four weeks in an oven at 52°C in a state that its 5cc have been filled in a pen-shaped container. After that, even when a line 60mm in length is drawn by the fluid, its color is not changed from the color of a line which has been drawn before the fluid is left at a standstill inside the heating oven. Even when the magnetic fluid is left at a standstill for 120 hours in the oven at 80°C in a state that it is diluted to 100 times, it is possible to prevent its discoloration. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
