titleOfInvention Glass chopped stand
abstract PURPOSE: To improve the unifor dispersibility and bundling property of the obtained strand by treating a glass strand with a bundling agent contg. specified polyurethane emulsion and coupling agent and then cutting the strand. n CONSTITUTION: The polyurethane emulsion is obtained by the reaction of a diisocyanate (e.g. xylene diisocyanate) with a polyether polyol or a polyester polyol, and the tensile strength of its film 50-100nm thick formed at 80°C for 3min and further at 150°C for 5min is controlled to ≥10kg/cm 2 . A coupling agent (e.g. methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) is added to the emulsion to obtain a sizing agent. The glass filaments are treated with the bundling agent and bundled to the strand yarn count of 5-50tex, and the obtained glass strand is cut. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
