abstract | NEW MATERIAL:An O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→4)-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→4)- O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranoside expressed by the formula having following properties; elements analysis: C 42.97 and H 6.38; molecular weight: 666 (by mass spectrometer) as a saccharide composed of four molecules of hexoses; composing sugar: composed of two molecules of galactose, a molecule of glucose and a molecule of fructose; specific optical rotation: optical rotation of freeze-dried material is [α] =+52.7 to 54.0; solubility: readily soluble in water and insoluble in acetone, alcohol, chloroform and benzene; hardly soluble in water-containing alcohol; color reaction: positive to aniline, etc., and negative to ninhydrine, etc.; pH: neutral; color: white, etc. n USE: Said saccharide has an accelerating action on the growth of Lactobacillus bifidus and has high sweetness. n PREPARATION: Prepared from levan-sucrase of Rahnella aquatilis JCM-1683 strain. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
