| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition having fungicidal and mildew- proofing actions and excellent compatibility with paint, etc., by using a mildew- proofing agent and β-phenoxyethanol as essential components and optionally adding a quaternary ammonium salt to the composition. n CONSTITUTION: The objective mildew-proofing fungicidal composition is produced by using a mildew-proofing agent [e.g. 2-(4-thiazolyl)benzimidazole] and β- phenoxyethanol as essential components and optionally adding a quaternary ammonium salt (e.g. octyltrimethylammonium chloride). A mildew-proofing fungicidal paint composition can be produced by adding a water-repelling compound (e.g. water-repellent silicone) and a paint to the above composition. The composition has fungicidal action as well as mildew-proofing action and excellent adhesivity to the treating object and exhibits mildew-proofing effect over a long period.
