titleOfInvention Preparation of hydrophilic-lipophilic copolymer powder
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a macroporous crosslinked copolymer lattice capable of adsorbing a hydrophilic fluid and a lipophilic fluid by polymerizing a hydrophilic monounsaturated monomer and a lipophilic polyunsaturated monomer in the presence of a specific solvent by a free radical initiator to precipitate a copolymer in the form of a powder in the solvent. n CONSTITUTION: A macroporous crosslinked copolymer lattice capable of adsorbing a hydrophilic fluid and a lipophilic fluid by the following method. Namely, at least one monounsaturated monomer of a hydrophilic compound and at least one polyunsaturated monomer of a lipophilic compound are polymerized in the presence of an organic liquid which is a solvent for these monomers but not a solvent for the copolymer by a free radical-generation catalytic compound to precipitate a copolymer in the form of a powder in the solvent and then, the solvent is removed from this precipitated copolymer powder. As the monounsaturated monomer, vinylpyrrolidone, diacetone acrylamide, etc., can be mentioned and as the polyunsaturated monomer, dimethacrylic acid ethylene glycol, dimethacrylic acid tetraethylene glycol, etc., can be mentioned. As the solvent, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, heptane, etc., can be used. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
