titleOfInvention | Production of alkylnaphthalene beta-sulfonic acid |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject substance by separating and extracting the subject substance from a crude alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid using an aromatic hydrocarbon as a solvent, cooling the resultant extract for crystallization and separation or carrying out liquid-liquid separation after addition of water thereto for separation from the water layer. n CONSTITUTION: Based on a crude alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid, 1-50 times amount of an aromatic hydrocarbon (e.g. toluene or xylene) is used in one portion or in potions to extract and separate the subject substance. By cooling the resultant extract for crystallization and separation of the subject substance or by adding water to the above-mentioned extract, transferring the subject substance to the water layer, subsequently allowing the liquid to stand for liquid-liquid separation and distilling off water, the objective substance of high purity is obtained. Free alkylnaphthalenes and by-product dialkylnaphthylsulfones can be extracted and separated at ≤60°C using a small amount of the solvent and can be separated by cooling or addition of water in case of extraction thereof together with the subject substance.1 hydrate salt in extraction at a high temperature using a large amount of the solvent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
