titleOfInvention Reduction of primary and secondary amine contents of tertiary amine
abstract PURPOSE: To reduce prim. and sec. amine contents of a tert. amine, by bringing the tert. amine into contact with an org. acid anhydride. n CONSTITUTION: The tert. amine contg. no prim. and sec. amines is obtd. by bringing a tert. amine into contact with the acid anhydride of the formula, (where R 1 and R 2 are each 1-18C alkyl or 2-18C alkenyl; R 1 in combination with R 2 is 1-10C alkylene or substd. ortho-phenylene, contg. a double bond), at 20-200°C, preferably 50-150°C, until the prim. and sec. amine contents of the tert. amine reach the required lower limit. The quantity of acetic anhydride or phthalic anhydride as the acid anhydride, is 1-2mol per 1mol of the prim and sec. amines. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
