PURPOSE: To easily obtain the subject isomer of comparatively high demand, through a process of chlorination of ring of toluene, and isomerization by catalyst, a process of adsorption separation of p-isomer by a specific zeolite, and a process of distillation or adsorption separation, and recirculation of o-isomer. n CONSTITUTION: (a) The o-, m- and p-isomer mixture of chlorotoluene obtained by chlorination of a ring of toluene, is treated by isomerizing catalyst of preferably pentacyl-type zeolite or the like, to increase the content of m-isomer, or m- and p-isomers. (b) Then the p-isomer is selectively isolated from the isomer mixture by using mesoporous or microporous zeolite of pentacyl-type zeolite or the like as an adsorbing agent, to be returned to the process (a) or to be taken out. (c) The o-isomer is separated from the remained isomer mixture by distillation or adsorption to be returned to (a), whereby the titled compound can be separated from the mixture by a simple method. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO |
