titleOfInvention Thiazolidine-2,4-dione derivative and its production
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R 1 is 1-8C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; R 2 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R 3 is H or 1-2C alkyl; (n) is integer of 0-3) and non-toxic salt thereof. n EXAMPLE: 3-Carboxymethyl-5-(2,2-dimethylpropyl)thiazolidine-2,4-dione. n USE: A therafeutic agent for complication of diabetes mellitus. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II is dissolved in methanol, DMF, etc., and a metallic reducing agent such as sodium borohydride 1-10 times by equivalent based on the said compound is added thereto at -10 to 10°C and the reaction mixture is further stirred at -10 to 10°C for 0.5-1hr. Then an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid is added thereto and the reaction product is extracted with ether, etc., to provide the compound expressed by formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
