titleOfInvention Production of 3-amino-2-hydroxyacetophenone
abstract PURPOSE: To industrially and advantageously obtain the title compound by subjecting a 5-halo-2-hydroxy-3-nitroacetophenone used as a raw material to catalytic hydrogenation reaction in a mixed solvent of halogenated hydrocarbon and water in the presence of a Pd catalyst so as to simultaneously carry out reduction of nitro group and dehalogenation. n CONSTITUTION: A 5-halo-2-hydroxy-3-nitroacetophenone used as a raw material is subjected to catalytic hydrogenation reaction in a halogenated hydrocarbon/ water mixed solvent in the presence of a palladium catalyst so as to simultaneously carry out reduction of nitro group and dehalogenation to readily provide the 3-amino-2-hydroxyacetophene in one stage. The objective substance is useful as an intermediate of a medicine, especially for allergy. The above-mentioned method can be practiced in industrial scale and is advantageous also from the aspects of yield and operation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
