abstract | PURPOSE: To produce the title compound in high selectivity and in high yield in reacting resorcinol with an alkylamine by carrying out the reaction in the presence of zinc chloride to advance the reaction extremely rapidly. n CONSTITUTION: Resorcinol is reacted with a primary alkylamine shown by the formula R-NH 2 (R is 1-8C alkyl) in the presence of 3-30mol% based on resorcinol of zinc chloride to give a 3-N-monoalkylaminophenol (e.g. 3-N- isobutylaminophenol) shown by the formula. The use of zinc chloride in the amination reaction advances the reaction extremely rapidly and yet by-products resulting from side reactions are not especially observed to attain high yield. The compound shown by the formula is an industrially important compound as an intermediate for a dyestuff for pressure-sensitive and heat-sensitive paper, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
