| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a metoprolol-containing tape preparation having excellent releasability, stability, skin adhesiveness and skin irritation of drug by adding metoprolol of free base structure to a tacky agent to give a drug-containing tacky agent layer and laminating the layer to a flexible substrate. n CONSTITUTION: Metoprolol (β-blocker effective against angina pectoris, hypertension or tachyarrhythmia) of free base structure is added to a tacky agent to give a drug-containing tacky agent layer, which is laminated to a flexible substrate to prepare the above-mentioned preparation having excellent percutaneous absorption. When a nonfunctional tacky agent such as polymer of (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester and/or an alkoxy modified monomer thereof or rubber-like tacky agent is used as the tacky agent, stability of drug is further improved and when an acrylic copolymer containing OH and/or COOH is used, sustained release of drug is further improved.
