titleOfInvention Production of fluorinated benzoic acid
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain fluorinated benzoic acid as an intermediate compound for synthesis of antibacterial compounds at a high yield, by reacting a chloroacetophenone with a hypohalogenide under moderate reaction conditions without using a special reaction equipment. n CONSTITUTION: A compd. of formula II is obtd. by reacting a fluorinated chloroacetophenone of formula I, where X=Br, Cl or F; Y=Cl or F; and Z=H or Cl, with a hypohalogenide, pref. sodium hypobromide, at 0-100°C, pref. 20-60°C. The starting compd. of formula I is a new material and is obtd. by reacting a compd. of formula III with mono- or di-chloroacetyl chloride at 20-100°C under the presence of an acylating catalyst. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
