titleOfInvention Production of cumene
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain cumene from propylene and benzene by a method for simultanesouly performing the alkylation and distillation of reaction components in a catalyst bed comprising a double bed of an Omega type molecular sieve and a Y type molecular sieve and also functioning as a distillation column structure. n CONSTITUTION: In a distillation column reactor 10, a Y-type molecular sieve and an Omega-type molecular sieve are respectively charged in the pockets of glass fiber belts to be formed in lower and upper sections 7, 12 in a spiral form along with stainless steel meshes. Benzene supplied from a line 2 and propylene supplied from a line 1 are reacted in a catalyst bed 12 and propylene (dimer) in the reaction product is reacted with benzene in the Y-bed to further form cumene and dipropylbenzene is subjected to the alkyl exchange with unreacted benzene to form cumene. Cumene is recovered from a line 8 and benzene is refluxed from the top of the column. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
