titleOfInvention 5-((4-n,n-ditolylamino)benzyl)-5h-dibenzo(a,d)-cycloheptane derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A 5-[(4-N,N-ditolylamino)benzyl]-5H-dibenzo[a,d]-cycloheptane derivative expressed by formula I. n USE: Capable of effectively functioning as a photoconductive material, optically or chemically sensitized with a sensitizer, such as a dye or Lewis acid, accordingly suitably used as a charge transport substance, etc., in a photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic sensitive substance and especially useful as the charge transport substance in a so-called functional separation type photosensitive layer in which a charge forming layer and a charge transport layer are divided in two layers. n PREPARATION: A cycloheptene derivative expressed by formula II (X is CH 2 -CH 2 or CH=CH) is hydrogenated to afford the compound expressed by formula I. The reaction is carried out by replacing the vapor phase part with hydrogen gas under 1atom in a hermetically sealed system and vigorously stirring the reaction system in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst. The hydrogen gas is fed according to the absorbed quantity thereof. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
