titleOfInvention Production of 11c ketene and automatic apparatus therefor
abstract PURPOSE: To advantageously obtain ketene containing a radioisotope by reacting carbon dioxide containing the radioisotope with a specific organometallic reagent, decomposing the excess above-mentioned reagent, then evaporating the decomposition product to dryness, subsequently adding an acid and thermally decomposing the resultant organic acid. n CONSTITUTION: An organometallic reagent 7 expressed by the formula RM or RMX (R is organic group; M is alkali metal; MX is alkaline earth metal) is added to carbon dioxide 12 containing a radioisotope expressed by formula I ( 11 C is radioisotope) to form an organometallic salt expressed by formula II or III. Water, etc., 10 are then added thereto to decompose the excess above-mentioned reagent. The water, etc., are evaporated under reduced pressure to evaporate the aforementioned metal salt to dryness. An acid is further added thereto to convert the above-mentioned metal salt into an organic acid expressed by formula IV, which is then thermally decomposed to efficiently and safely afford a radioactive ketone, expressed by formula V and useful for diagnosis, etc., using position emission CT using an automatic production apparatus capable of automatically controlling the aforementioned series of operations through solenoid valves (V 4 ), (V 11 ), (V 12 ), (V 13 ), etc., preferably connecting respective vessels 12, 7, 10, 11, etc., to a reaction vessel 6. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
