titleOfInvention | Production of acyl group-substituted aromatic compound |
abstract | PURPOSE: To efficiently produce an acyl group-substituted aromatic compound useful as an agricultural chemical, photographic chemical, UV absorber, etc., by reacting an aromatic compound with carboxylic acids using a highly active fluorine-containing aromatic sulfonic acid catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic compound expressed by formula II (R is H, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen: (m) is 1-3; both P and Q are H, either thereof is phenyl and the other is H or both are hydrocarbons required to link and form naphthalene or tetralin ring) is reacted with carboxylic acids using a fluorine-containing aromatic sulfonic acid catalyst expressed by formula I (X 1 is F or 1-14C fluorine- containing alkyl which may contain ethereal oxygen atom; Ar 1 is aryl; (n) is 1-5; (m) is 1-3) as a catalyst to afford an acyl group-substituted aromatic compound (e.g. methylbenzophenone). A high yield can be attained by using the aforementioned catalyst even if water is present in the reaction system. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
