abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R 1 is H, 5-25C alkyl or alkenyl; R 2 is H, phenyl or 1-10C alkyl which may be replaced; R 3 is H, 5-25C alkyl or alkenyl) or salt thereof. n EXAMPLE: 5-Tetradecylpyrrole-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester. n USE: The compound expressed by formula I or salt thereof has excellent lipid lowering action capable of simultaneously and strongly lowering triglyceride and cholesterol in blood and is useful as a remedy, etc., for hyperlipemia. n PREPARATION: For example, a compound expressed by formula II (X is halogen) obtained by reacting pyrrole with methyl or ethyl magnesium halide is reacted with an acyl chloride expressed by formula III (R 4 is 4-24C alkyl) and the resultant compound expressed by formula IV is subjected to Wolf-Kishner reduction to afford 2-alkylpyrrole expressed by formula V. Then the compound expressed by formula V is reacted with a Grignard reagent and further reacted with ethyl chlorocarbonate and as necessary the resultant product is hydrolyzed to provide the compounds expressed by formula VII and formula VIII. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
