titleOfInvention Organic polymer-polysiloxane composite particle and preparation thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare polymer composite particles comprising a composite of an org. polymer with a polysiloxane by causing particles of the org. polymer dispersed in an aq. medium to absorb an alkoxysilane and then causing the alkoxysilane to polycondense. n CONSTITUTION: An alkoxysilane (e.g. methyltrimethoxysilane) is caused to be absorbed by particles of an org. polymer dispersed in an aq. medium (e.g. an emulsion-polymerized polystyrene latex having a mean particle diameter of 0.05-10μm) and is then caused to polycondense in the polymer particles, thus producing an aq. dispersion of polymer composite particles comprising a composite of the org. polymer with a polysiloxane easily at a high yield. The resulting polymer composite particles, given an excellent solvent, heat, and weathering resistance and adhesive properties inherent to the polysiloxane, can be used in many applications. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
