titleOfInvention Blood compatible medical material
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a polymeric substance obtained by reacting an amido group-containing substrate polymer and sulfonated polyethylene oxide, characterized by that an amido group of the substrate polymer is substituted by sulfonated polyethylene oxide, excellent in blood compatibility and suitable for an artificial heart. n CONSTITUTION: After an amido group-containing substrate polymer (pref., polyurethane) is pref. reacted with diisocyanate or dicarboxylic acid chloride, the obtained reaction product is reacted with sulfonated polyethylene oxide to substitute the amido group of the substrate polymer by sulfonated polyethylene oxide pref. through an isocyanate group or a chlorocarbonyl group to obtain a blood compatible polymeric substance. The degree of substitution of sulfonated polyethylene oxide is pref. 50-95% when the surface reaction of a molded product is performed and pref. 5-50% when bulk reaction for obtaining a molding material is performed. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
