abstract PURPOSE: To acquire flame-retardant electric wire/cable having excellence in heat/age resistance by sheathing and cross-linking a wire with a composition comprising a metal hydroxide, silicone crude rubber, a hydroxybenzoylisocyanurate group compound and a sulfurcontaining ester group compound respectively contained in polyolefin in their relevant specified ratios. n CONSTITUTION: A wire is sheathed and cross-linked with a composition comprising 50 to 200 pts.wt. of a metal hydroxide, not less than 0.5 pts.wt. of silicone crude rubber, yet 1 to 10 pts.wt. of a hydroxybenzoylisocyanurate group compound and 1 to 10 pts.wt. of a sulfur-containing ester group compound respectively contained in 100 pts.wt. of polyolefin. Heat/age resistance besides flame retardancy may be greatly improved by having the metal hydroxide contained in the polyolefin, and yet adding the silicone crude rubber, the hydroxybenzoylisocyanurate group compound and the sulfur-containing ester group compound thereto. Also the resulting cross-link can prevent thermal deformation of the sheathed wire under a high temperature. Thus, electric wire/cable can be acquired with improvement in heat/age resistance besides in flame retardancy. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
