abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an emulsion type aqueous hydraulic fluid having long-term stability to separation, low foaming properties and high lubricating ability by emulsifying an oily substance into an aqueous medium using an emulsifying agent comprising a specific (meth)acrylate-based polymer emulsifying agent as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:An oily substance is emulsified into an aqueous medium using an emulsifying agent comprising a polymer emulsifying agent composed of a polymer which contains >=70wt.% total amounts of (A) 97-25wt.% monomer shown by formula I [R<1> is H or methyl; X is 2-4C alkylene oxide (>=50wt.% ethylene oxide); n is 3-300; R<2> is H, 1-3C alkyl or 2-3C alkenyl-containing organic group] and (B) 3-75wt.% monomer shown by formula II (R<3> is H or methyl; R<4> is 4-30C alkyl, alkenyl or aryl) and has 1,000-500,000 average molecular weight, as an essential component to give the aimed hydraulic fluid.
