abstract PURPOSE: To diagnose chronic fatigue syndrome by measuring the levels of 2'-5'A oligonucleotide in cells, a synthase associated therewith and RNase L in a peripheral blood sample of a patient. n CONSTITUTION: This method for diagnosing viral infections associated with chronic fatigue is to measure levels of 2'-5'A oligonucleotide synthase, 2'-5'A oligonucleotide (2'-5' oligoadenylate, etc.), in cells and RNase L in a peripheral blood sample, compare the results with those for resembling molecular components in normal individuals and identify the chronic fatigue by a decrease of the 2'-5'A oligonucleotide synthase level and a change of the enzyme molecule as compared with those of normal individuals. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
